2023 iReadIndies Literary Award Nominations
Welcome to the nominating page for the inaugural year of the iReadIndies International Literary Awards.
Nominations are open from Monday, February 12th, 2024 through Monday, March 11th, 2024. There are 14 nominating categories this year.
For 2024 only, all books nominated will be vetted by the board to ensure all criteria are met. Rounds of public voting will follow in the spring of 2024 to determine the finalists and the winner in each category. Winners will be announced this summer. Please watch this site and our social media for information and dates as we move through the nominating and voting processes.
Nominations are free and open to the public. All books nominated must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration:
- Books must have been self published by an independent (indie) author in 2023.
- Books indie published by a hybrid author (trade published for some works and self published for others) can be considered.
- Only indie published anthologies are eligible in the anthology category or in any other category, but books with a mix of stories by self and traditionally published authors are acceptable as long as the book was indie published.
- The author of any nominated book must be an author member of iReadIndies (membership is currently free). If the author is not a member she/he/they can join here. You can check to see if an author is a member here. At least one author in an indie published anthology must be an iReadIndies member.
- The main character in any book including in all stories in anthologies must be sapphic, lesbian, a sapphically aligned MTF, non-binary, a pansexual who identifies as female, or a bisexual who identifies as female. Romance novels can only feature primary romantic relationships between sapphically aligned persons, a sapphically aligned person and a non-binary person, or between two or more non-binary persons.
- We uphold that trans women are women. A romance featuring a trans woman as a main character must feature her with a partner who also identifies as female (lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, sapphic, or queer), or another sapphically aligned MTF, or a non-binary person.
- Choose the category that fits best for the book you are nomination. iReadIndies International reserves the right to change a book to a different category if we feel one fits better.
